A private family club on Long Island Sound in Rye: Ball Room to 200, West Porch 25 to 75, and no published policy on non member weddings.
Coveleigh Club sits directly on Long Island Sound at 459 Stuyvesant Avenue in Rye. The club publishes a Ball Room for up to 200 guests, a West Porch Room seating 25 to 75, and an outdoor ceremony site on a bluestone garden patio. Whether you can book any of it is the open question. The club’s own website does not resolve it. Its Special Events page markets a bridal shower, a wedding for 200 guests or a birthday party, and gives a direct contact for the Events and Communications Manager, with no mention of membership either way. Its Social Events page says social events are available exclusively to members. Its Contact Us page says Coveleigh is a private, multi generational family club and that all candidates for membership must be sponsored by members, which is about joining rather than about hosting an event. We read the homepage, the Special Events page, the Social Events page and the Contact Us page. None of them answer it. WeddingWire’s profile claims the club rents to non members for a small fee, but that is WeddingWire talking, not the club. Call (914) 967-5900 extension 210 and ask before you fall for the water view.
The club publishes two room capacities and no money. That makes the table above a set of questions rather than a comparison. Before any of it matters, get the membership question answered in writing, because a private family club in Rye is entitled to say no and you would rather hear it on a phone call. After that, ask for the rental figure and what it includes against the WeddingWire list. Ask the per person catering rate and how service charge and tax are applied. Ask the rain plan for an outdoor ceremony.
The club’s homepage, Special Events page, Social Events page and Contact Us page at coveleighclub.com, plus The Knot and WeddingWire listings for Coveleigh Club in Rye. All read 11 September 2026. Checked September 2026. First party means the business’s own site or rate card. Marketplace means The Knot, WeddingWire, Zola, Wedding Spot or similar. Nothing here is averaged or estimated.
The club never states whether outside couples may book. Confirm that first, because everything else on this page depends on the answer.
On one side, the Special Events page reads like marketing aimed outward. It names the kind of events the club hosts and gives a staff member’s direct contact. It says nothing about membership being required. On the other, the Social Events page restricts the club’s social calendar to members, and the Contact Us page describes a sponsored membership process.
Those are answers to different questions. A restricted social calendar tells you who may attend the club’s own parties. It does not tell you who may rent the Ball Room for a Saturday in June. The club has simply never written the second answer down.
The Ball Room holds up to 200. The West Porch Room seats 25 to 75. That range is genuinely useful, because most Westchester clubs of this type publish one ballroom figure and leave small weddings to work it out themselves.
The ceremony site is outdoors on a bluestone garden patio, on the water. The Knot also describes the main dining room as newly renovated. WeddingWire counts six event rooms or areas in total and gives an overall maximum of 200 guests.
There is no per person rate, no site fee figure, no food and beverage minimum, no guest minimum and no service charge percentage. The club’s site directs inquiries to the Events and Communications Manager and stops there. The Knot and WeddingWire both list the club without a starting price.
For a waterfront club in Rye that is not surprising. It does mean you cannot place this venue in a budget range until someone at the club gives you a number.
The inclusions list on WeddingWire is long: bridal suite, chairs, china, flatware, glassware, linens, tables, parking, event planning, set up and clean up. That is a useful checklist to take into a quote conversation, because it tells you what you should expect to be inside a rental figure rather than billed separately.
It is also a marketplace list, assembled by the platform. Confirm each line against the club’s own contract before you assume the chairs are included.
A bluestone garden patio on Long Island Sound is exposed. No wet weather alternative, no decision deadline and no move fee is published by the club or by either marketplace. WeddingWire lists a peak season of May through October, which is the club’s marketplace listing rather than a stated policy.
Ask where the ceremony goes if it rains, and who makes that call. Ask whether the Ball Room can be reset in time for dinner.
Can a couple with no member connection host a wedding here, and if a member is required, does the member have to sponsor the event or simply introduce it. Everything else on this page is contingent on that answer.
The club’s Events and Communications Manager is reachable at (914) 967-5900 extension 210. Ask that question first and get the answer in an email. Only then spend an afternoon on a tour.
Clubs use the word sponsor to mean several different things. At some, a member simply introduces you and the club contracts with you directly. At others, the member is the contracting party, signs the bill and carries the liability, which is a large thing to ask of an acquaintance.
Coveleigh has not published which model it uses, or whether it uses one at all for private bookings. So if the answer to the first question is that a member is involved, the follow up is what that member has to do and what they are on the hook for. Ask whether a non member surcharge applies, and ask whether the member has to attend.
