This site is built on per-guest cost instead of the whole-event totals everybody quotes, because a $50,000 wedding for 240 people and a $50,000 wedding for 80 people are not the same purchase and should not appear in the same sentence. Everything below is sorted by the three things that actually move your invoice: where the room is, how many chairs fit in it with a dance floor down, and whether you are permitted to book it at all.
Weddings here run large. The county's modeled average guest count is 166 to 176 against a national average of 117, which is why capacity is the first filter on this site and decor is not a filter at all (the arithmetic, with the caveats).
Start with the room type
Catering halls, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, White Plains, New Rochelle, Cortlandt Manor. Where the middle of this county actually gets married. The only category with a real negotiating position in October, because a ballroom without windows does not care what the trees are doing.
Country, shore and yacht clubs, 35 of them, sorted by access before anything else. As of 11 September 2026, 10 publish an outside events policy we can cite and 16 publish nothing. Four are municipally or county-owned, which makes access likelier and does not make it certain.
Mansions and estates, the Hudson bluff, mostly nineteenth century, several owned by preservation bodies that run events on their own terms. Most large estate weddings here happen under a tent rather than in the drawing room, and the tent is frequently the second-largest line on the budget.
Barns and farms, north county. You are renting a permit and a field, not a package, and the difference shows up as eleven separate invoices.
Hotels and ballrooms, the only category where the contract that costs you money is not the catering contract. It is the room block.
What it actually costs, per head, the median Westchester wedding spends $118 to $125 per guest on everything, dress and photographer included. The national average couple spends $190 a head on the venue package alone.

Where the room is changes what you are buying
The river towns
Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Ossining, Croton. The Hudson runs 3.6 miles wide at its broadest point in the county, out by the old Tappan Zee crossing (Westchester County Planning), which is the view you are paying for, and also the reason an open terrace here is unusable by late October without heat you have rented.
The landmark stock is genuine and much of it is museum-owned. Museums run event programs on their own terms, and we do not describe any property as bookable until we can point at the page and the date that says so. The estates, and which are which.
The Sound Shore
Larchmont, Mamaroneck town and village, New Rochelle, Port Chester, Rye, roughly 36 miles of shoreline and near-shore town (Visit Westchester). Mamaroneck was founded in 1660, which is older than most of what is standing on it.
The waterfront rooms are selling light, and the light is seasonal in a way the price sheet usually is not. A 5:30 ceremony at Davenport Neck in late September puts you in golden hour through cocktails. The identical room in January puts the ceremony, the cocktail hour and the first dance behind black glass. Same per-head. Different product. Ask for both quotes and see whether the venue can explain the gap.
A large share of that waterfront is private member clubs, and almost none of them publish the rule about who may book. We label access status rather than guessing at it.
The hall belt
Yonkers, Mount Vernon, White Plains, Elmsford, and the Central Park Avenue corridor. What you buy in a hall is throughput, a floor plan that moves 175 people from cocktails to seated without a jam at the double doors, and a kitchen that can fire 175 entrées before the first table's food goes cold. That is a real operational skill and it is worth paying for. What separates the good ones.
Yonkers is the one municipality in the county with its own sales tax rate. The gap is small and we price it exactly on the cost page. The point is not the money. The point is that your proposal was written before it was applied.
North county
Yorktown, Somers, North Salem, Bedford, Cortlandt, Katonah. More square footage per dollar, and your guests pay the difference in miles and hotel nights. The rain plan up here is usually a tent, and a tent is not a line item. It is frame, sidewalls, flooring, heat, lighting, power, a town permit and a delivery-and-strike window that can cost you a second day's site fee. Get it quoted as its own document.
We sort by what moves your budget, not by which room photographs best.
What we filter on
- Seated capacity with a dance floor in the room. Not the fire-code number. Not the standing number. If a venue will not give you square footage and a diagram at your headcount, it is not because the file is missing.
- Rain plan. Every listing names the indoor alternate and its seated capacity. If the alternate is smaller than your guest list, that venue fails at a 30 percent chance of showers.
- Access status. Confirmed public, member-sponsored only, or unverified. We publish the third one honestly rather than promoting it to the first.
- Landed cost. Per head, plus the administrative fee, plus sales tax, and the tax is charged on the fee, which is where the number stops resembling the proposal.
What we will not do
We do not publish a price we have not read off a proposal or a venue's own published sheet, we do not call a private club bookable to fill a category, and nobody can buy a verdict or a position in a list.
